Doctor’s terminal cancer disappears after prayer.
Elderly doctor Radoslav Srekovic curled up to die in a Siberian mountain shack after a diagnosis of terminal cancer – but his story didn’t end there.
Rodoslav, born in 1943, had a lifelong fascination with medicine and science, and moved for a while to London where he made a lot of money as a sports doctor working in hospitals. Returning to Serbia, however, he lost all his wealth after the pharmacy business he tried to set up was destroyed by corruption.
Penniless, and diagnosed with deadly prostate and bladder cancer, the now-elderly Radoslav moved into a shack on the mountain of Fruska Gora to see his days out.
But a team of Christians from the nearby city of Novi Sad met Radoslav when he came looking for food at a church homeless project.
Pastor Dusan Beredi, leader of Protestant Christian Fellowship in Novi Sad, told Good News: “He ended up in a dilapidated house in the mountains. He used to come to our meetings for the homeless for food, but we noticed that he suddenly stopped coming. We found him sick in bed, unable to move. He was seriously ill with cancer.”
The church helped the former doctor by renting him an apartment in the city, “where we could bring him food, and take care of him, and allow him to die with dignity”
“All we wanted as a church was to give him a dignified place to end his life, in love and care,” recalls Pastor Beredi. “We prayed, but I must say that we did not expect a miracle. However, God performed a miracle and healed him.”
Overjoyed, Radoslav wanted very much to share his story of God’s healing with the church and encourage other people. He was baptised there last year.
Pastor Beredi says: “He read his testimony with a magnifying glass, but every word was filled with gratitude and love for God and the church”.
Radoslav now regularly visits the church, and a sister church not far away. He knows that God alone healed him of terminal cancer and led him to believe in Jesus Christ.
“Medicine was my god and the medicine textbook used to be my bible, but I met the only One who is the most powerful,” said Radoslav.
