Listening to GOD, A Holy Communication with god.

If you ask any priest or minister about how God can speak to us directly. Most would probably answer the question by saying, by reading the Holy Bible, through listening to one of their sermons! Through the hymns, songs, and prayers during the Sunday morning worship in church.

But how many of them will tell you it is possible for God to speak to you directly, or through his angels, through your dreams and visions, and through other Christians?

The reality is, that any Christian can learn how to Listen to God, so that whenever God wants to speak to us He can do.

In my book, Amazing Evidence For God: How To Experience The Power And Presence Of God. I have written of my own experiences of how to listen to God, and how I set up a Listening to God prayer group in our church, so others could learn how to Listen to God.

The reality of God, is that God does not want us to go through our lives on our own. God wants to guide us and help us, to do His will and encourage us.

I have given full details of how I experienced listening to God, and how you can learn to listen to God. But let me give you an example of listening to God.

When I was learning how to listen to God, I went on a church weekend to Lindisfarne, known as Holy Island, in Northumberland. There were about twenty of us at the weekend, most were from our church who I knew quite well, but there was one man I had never met before.

I decided it would be a good place to practice listening to God, by asking God to give me a Word, a message for each person. On the first morning, God woke me early and gave me a message for each person, and as usual I would write the message on a postcard size card. This was all before breakfast! So at breakfast I handed out the cards to each person.

The following morning the man who I had not met before came and sat by me, and wanted to tell me something about the message I gave him from God.

The message was, You may think you have retired, but I have one more mission for you.

Now, I had no idea how old this man was or if he was retired, but that was the message I received and that is what I wrote on his card.

When the man sat next to me, he said, “you don’t know me or anything about me, yet that message is what all my friends have been telling me for the past six months”.

Then he told me, “I have worked as a missionary for many years, and had decided that my last overseas mission would be my last, and I would retire. But all my friends have been telling me not to give up and that I have more missionary work to do”.

He was surprised at being given a message from God at breakfast, by a stranger, and because he had made the decision to retire, he hadn’t been praying to God for a decision about his retirement.

As far as he was concerned the matter was settled.

But now, he came to realise that God had been speaking to him through his Christian friends, and now, surprise, surprise! God had spoken to him at breakfast, through me!

A few years later, someone told me that he had made one more mission, and while he was there, he met and married his wife!

What this report of listening to God tells us is, that God is real, that He knows who we are, He knows where we are, He knows exactly what is going on in our lives, and God can speak to us, to help us, guide us, support us, comfort us and encourage us.

And the very reason I wrote my book, Amazing Evidence for God, is so that you could learn how to listen to God for yourself, and for others.
